More Information
Originally from Bemidji, MN I moved to Greensboro, NC 12 years ago in a car with little possessions, but already a heart and life packed full of memory, heartache, experience, and determination; all at the ripe age of 20! I remember in the long drive, the narrative I spoke to myself--in a breath both of scolding and encouraging intensity--"you will do this, and you will be okay. Quit trying to fit in and do what your heart is pushing you to do." And that is what I did and do.

Here I am.
I claimed my education despite, doubt, fear, and the challenge's life seems to surprise us with.
Holding a Master's degree in the Study of Law from Wake Forest University School of Law and a Bachelor's in Science degree in Community and Justice Policy Studies from Guilford College.
Earning the Barton Parks Community Justice Award, Center for Principled Problem Solving Community Alumni Fellowship, and appointment from my peers to give the graduation commencement speech.

Challenging and reinventing myself in a journey of personal and professional development: coordinator of a successful higher education in prison program, teacher of justice and policy studies, Americorps volunteer, teacher and tutor of persons incarcerated, and in general, a believer in people--and their incredible beauty of resilience, strength and human potential.

I am here, a stronger woman, friend, and community member driven by a strong sense of community and conviction to the value of transformative education and justice. Embracing opportunities to collaborate with amazing individuals who encompass the same values of equality and justice and human connectivity I hold so dear and understanding my own value and niche to see the beauty and stuggle of our stories. To me, my heart work has proven to something profoundly immeasurable.

I spearheaded efforts and grounded significant support to launch a practical liberal arts prison education initiative through Guilford College, now in its second semester, and my ongoing work in the education and justice field focuses on not only the quantitative data of the justice system but overwhelmingly on the qualitative data; the stories that give meaning to the numbers, working with people in all areas and stages of life--

I am humbled to have unyielding support and honored to work with such brilliant, inspirational people involved in our individual and collective goals, here in North Carolina, the United States and internationally.

Beyond my work and study, my life is filled with breath and heart beats of love for my two beautiful sons; Brendan and Roman.
